5-DAYS IN SAN FRANCISCO


Day 1

OVERVIEW & CABLE CAR: Arrive in San Francisco and have an overview tour of the city. Drive through the waterfront district, the financial district, the theater district, Haight-Ashbury, Japantown, Presidio Heights, past the Palace of Fine Arts, and Fort Mason.


Spend some time in Chinatown where you will have a festival of the senses with the noise, the Asian-inspired decor, and the fish and meat markets!


San Francisco’s Chinatown is the oldest in the country and is a bustling neighborhood.


Have dinner and check into your hotel.


Day 2

ALCATRAZ: In the morning, get in line for your ferry to Alcatraz. This National Park once served as a fort, a military prison, and later a maximum security federal penitentiary. The Indian tribes once occupied Alcatraz in the name of freedom and for Native American Civil Rights.


Alcatraz has a very complex history which you can learn about with your audio guides. The voices in your ear are of former guards and prisoners of Alcatraz. Feel the chill in your bones as you walk through the park, visit the solitary confinement cells, and learn about some famous prisoners like Al Capone and George “Machine Gun” Kelly.


Upon returning to Pier 33, visit the Embarcadero and the markets for lunch located at the historic ferry building. Spend time shopping and exploring Union Square before dinner.


Day 3

MUIR WOODS: Drive over the stunning Golden Gate Bridge in the morning. Stop for a photo opportunity before continuing on to Muir Woods. This National Park, founded in 1908 is one of the oldest places to see indigenous Coastal Redwood Trees.


Spend the morning in the mystical and peaceful setting of Muir Woods. You will learn about the history of the Redwood Trees and how old some of them actually are.


Have lunch and head back to San Francisco. Spend the rest of the afternoon on the Golden Gate Parkway. Visit the California Academy of Sciences, The Academy of Science is one of the largest natural history museums in the world. It is the only place on earth with an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and natural history museum all under one roof.


Spend time in the park and see the Japanese Tea Garden and the San Francisco Botanical Garden.


Day 4

THE HILLS OF SAN FRANCISCO: After breakfast, spend time touring the Palace of Fine Arts.


After the devastating earthquake of 1906, the people of San Francisco built this structure, architected by Bernard Maybeck to host the century’s first great world fair to honor the completion of the Panama Canal.

Then, head to the Cable Car Museum to look around. Hop on a 19th-century trolley and get off at the top of Lombard Street.. Walk down this famous ziggity-zaggity road while taking in a breathtaking view of the city.


Continue touring the North Beach area of San Francisco, the home of the famous Telegraph Hill, Russian Hill, and Nob Hill. Climb to the top of the famous Coit Tower.


Continue your tour with a visit to the Saint Peter and Paul Church.


Afterward, snap some photos of the painted ladies, and spend time shopping and eating in Hayes Valley and the Fillmore. Anne-style homes.


Have dinner and return to your hotel to get ready for your journey home.


Day 5

DEPARTURE DAY: After breakfast, you will be transported to the airport for your flight home.
