An eclectic homestay exchange in New England

Day 1 Arrival: You will be met and transported to the host community to meet your Families! “Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.”― Henry David Thoreau, born in Concord, MA.


Day 2 Spend the day with your families


Day 3 Spend the day in school following your host student to classes and activities


Day 4 Day in Boston & Cambridge – Visit the Museum of Science and a Historical Tour of The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Tour Harvard University then spend the afternoon in Harvard Square; If there is time, visit JFK Library. This Library is a museum that portrays President Kennedy's life, leadership, and legacy conveys his enthusiasm for politics and public service and illustrates the nature of the president's office.


Day 5 Local tour: Start your day at the Currier Museum in Manchester, NH for a tour and to participate in a hands-on art workshop (if available). Afterward, tour one of the famous houses of Frank Lloyd Wright. If there is time, tour the Concord State House. In the evening, get together with your American Families for a fun theater night at Chunky’s Cinema.


Day 6 Spend the day in school following your host student to classes and activities


Day 7 Boston Day State House Tour. The Magnificent setting of the state government for over two centuries has become an outstanding museum reflecting the history of Massachusetts since colonial times. Its spacious marble-floored corridors are lined with portraits of Massachusetts governors and murals depicting our state’s unique heritage. Adamses, Hancocks, Reveres, and Winthrops live on in statues and paintings recreating the glory of their times. Visit Boston’s back bay, Newbury St, and Downtown Crossing.


Day 8 Weekend day with host families

Day 10 Spend the day touring Salem and Rockport. Salem: Watch the film: Where Past is Present. The Regional Visitor Center offers a 27-minute orientation film on the history of Salem and Essex County, as well as exhibits and information about the area. Walk along Derby Wharf, part of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, which extends one half-mile into Salem Harbor, providing a beautiful view of Salem, Salem Harbor, and Marblehead. At the end of Derby Wharf sits the historic Derby Light Station, which has been a working navigational tool since 1871. Visit the Witch Trials Memorial. Dedicated in 1992 to mark the tercentenary of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, the Witch Trials Memorial is a sad, symbolic place to reflect on the events of 1692. Rockport: For over 160 years, people have traveled to Rockport for its miles of lovely beaches, boulder-strewn paths, and that uncommonly magical light that has inspired painters since Winslow Homer. Spend some time touring this beautiful coastal town in Massachusetts.


Day 11 Meet at school and depart for New York City by bus. Upon arrival, meet your guide at the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Have a tour of the MET and view the exhibits. Walk down Fifth Avenue/Central Park; walk through Midtown Manhattan, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and Times Square. If time allows, visit the historic Grand Central Station. Have dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. After dinner, your bus will transfer you to the Empire State Building (ESB). Visit the observatory, then depart for your hotel in New Jersey.


Day 12 Have breakfast in your hotel. Check out of your rooms. Depart the hotel and visit Liberty State Park where you will board the Statue of Liberty Ferry. Visit the Ellis Island Museum of Immigration and have lunch. Take the return ferry to Battery Park. Walk through the financial district, over the Brooklyn Bridge, and visit the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero.

Depart NYC for your flight home.
