Spanish-Inspired St. Augustine, Florida

Day 1:

Arrive in St. Augustine, Florida, and meet your tour director. Check into your hotel, and have an overview tour of this historic city! See the Historic District, and walk under the stone archway to enter the oldest street in the nation, Aviles street. Have dinner at one of the independently owned restaurants and explore the various historical museums and shops.

Day 2:

Spend the morning seeing Castillo de San Marcos National Monument on Matanzas Bay. The fort was built by the Spanish in the 17th century to protect trade routes and is known for being unbreakable. It is the oldest masonry fortification in the United States. In the afternoon, tour the Victorian artifacts of Lightner Museum. Located in the Hotel Alcazar, the site is an 1887 Spanish Renaissance Revival building. From the courtyard, catch a view of Flagler College, once the Hotel Ponce de Leon, a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture.

Day 3:

Have breakfast in the hotel and then spend some relaxing time visiting Saint Augustine Beach. Head to the Colonial Quarter in time for lunch. Spend the remainder of the day exploring the three areas of this living museum, each representing a time in Spanish history: the 16th Century Spanish First City, the 17th Century Spanish Fortified Town, and the 18th Century Spanish Garrison Town. See well-preserved Spanish architecture, take tours from guides in traditional attire, and spend time exploring the numerous eateries and shops.

Day 4:

Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
